Charge Darts are electrified flechettes that are fired at tremendously high speed. The projectile itself does very little physical damage. However, the flechette carries a powerful electric charge that can stun many enemies with a single hit. A sphere of electricity can be seen emanating from of point of impact. Though the Charge dart does not kill an enemy (except in certain rare situations), it does incapacitate them for a time, giving the player time to select another weapon and finish the enemy off, or retreat. An enemy that recovers from being stunned will function at an increased aggression level. One of the most beneficial aspects of this particular upgrade is that it is effective against a much larger number of the enemies in the game than the tranquilizer Gun.
